Campaign Story

In line with its waqf-concept, MAIDAM Hemodialysis Centre will also be operating on waqf land. The location of the property will be built at a strategic area to be decided by MAIDAM.

The waqf land will function as a general waqf as decided by Zakat, Waqf and Baitulmal Committee during their third meeting in 2010.

In addition, other facilities such as parking lots will also be made available to provide a convenient experience for patients and visitors.

The estimated operations cost for MAIDAM Hemodialysis Centre during its first phase (within the first three year) is RM 770,740.00 while the allocation of waqf funds will comprise of medical equipment and non-medical equipment costs amounting to RM701,780.00 and RM68,960.00 respectively.

As for the management costs, the Kuala Terengganu Hospital estimates a management fee of RM 872,364.00 which consists of the hiring of nine staff. Payment will be borne by zakat allocation. The management cost will be borne by this fund once the benefits from the waqf fund grows.

Problem Statement

There are 150 cases of kidney disease and a minimum of 30 patients on the waiting list for dialysis treatment in Kuala Terengganu every year. As of 2018, there are 580 patients recorded, still undergoing their treatment. With limited services offered by the hospital or the Hemodialysis Centres and the increase in the number of patients every year; makes this initiative even more relevant.

Impact Project

i. Reduce the number of patients on the waiting list.
ii. Provide better dialysis treatment to existing and new patients.
iii. Help the underprivileged in improving their health at a lower cost.
